Well, the appointment wasn't a time line appointment so I guess that was a plus....however. Mom has a three inch mass on her right lung (in addition it looks as though she has a small case of pneumonia or the cancer has started to break down her bronchial tubes) , a two inch mass in the chest cavity lymph nodes near her heart.  Then the mass they found under the left rib cage.  Since she is not going to do chemo here is what she is going to do.  She had a PET scan this morning; she has scheduled a CAT scan for Monday on her head.  (My insistence on that one, she keeps saying her head does not feel right, I know lung cancer has a tendency to spread to the brain) Then she will see a radiologist for a consultation to see if they can shrink the mass on the left side because it is bothering her.  She said it itches, something terrible like something is crawling.  Doc said that may be associated with the growth of cancer.  Then she will go to a lung specialist who will see if they can do a needle biopsy on the lung to see if it is the same cancer that is on the left side.  However, if that doctor thinks the risk of puncturing the lung is great they will not do the biopsy.  Now we wait for all the results then the options are slimmed down to radiation, which is not so effective on lung cancer, and then Hospice.....She is my hero, her acceptance and grace amaze me.  All 3 of us kids have told her we support the decisions that she makes. 

I felt all of you with me yesterday.  I stayed calm; my A was very patient when it came to waiting more than 20 minutes past Mom's appointment time to be seen.  He never complained one time.  Held me when I fell asleep last night.  Thank you all for being my strength.
