ODAT 3-28

The ODAT reading for today speaks about attending alanon meetings and listening to the opening.   Here it is explained that the purpose of our fellowship is to support each other as we grow and change..  We are asked to share our experience   in using alanon tools, the strength we gain from doing so because that inspires others and the hope that results from this enables us all togrow in a positive direction.

The reading goes on to point out that we should always consider these three elements before we share and not expect an entire meeting to listen to our self-pity and resentment.

The reading does not point out, but I would like to point out that this does not apply to a newcomer who is just beginning. the program and is a place to feel safe and supported. The newcomers set me free to share their pain of others identified and offer empathy and constructive tools to live by. That is actually how we grow and change
The quote is :"I will not expect a  whole meetings to give ear to my woes. I pray that what I bring will help and inspire others , or pose a problem in which we can sharpen our understanding bring hope to others ."

I thoroughly enjoyed my Al-Anon meetings. I can sit with my eyes closed, with an open mind and-heart and be inspired  constantly. Thanks for letting me share
