I can so identify with today's reading in the Courage to Change. It speaks about expecting others to know what we need and want, without having to ask for it. It points out that no one is a mind reader and no one can tell what is in my mind, heart and soul unless I reveal it.

Before program I always felt as if my spouse should be able to know what I felt, and what I needed,--- after all, I knew all the  things he needed because I focused my entire life on him.Of course I was mistaken. I did not know what he needed-- I just assumed and made many mistakes.

This reading points out that because of program. We learn that we cannot read another person's mind nor can they read ours. That we must treat people with more respect because we are learning to ask for what we need and will encourage others to do the same.

Reminder says help, comfort and support are available to me. I am willing to reach out for what I need

And the quote is from In All Our Affairs." I cannot expect anyone to help me unless I am willing to share that I need help"

What are your thoughts.

I can so relate Betty   ...  for me I take today's reading, that you have presented, one step further   ....  in that I have learned that to assume or

expect that other's will treat me the way I treated them was the wrong expectation.  By believing that I would automatically be treated kindly,

because I was kind, set me up for failure (most of the time).  I learned that being kind, caring and loving has no strings attached  ...  otherwise

it would be considered manipulation!  Reaching out to MIP, Al-Anon and HP, sharing when I and others need help definitely has helped me to

learn and grow.
