Welcome...This is an awful disease. The going MIA on binges is usually a sign of disease progression after having been sober or having tried to stay sober for a while. It is seriously like the disease needs to play catch up. I'm sorry you are going through this. You are not alone.

Many years ago, I had two babies under the age of 3 when my husband would go missing. There were times I had to pack up and leave to be with my family who lived in another state. I needed support and a reprieve from the insanity.

Later, when I found al-anon meetings, I found friends who were actually walking in my shoes and how they were coping... I realized I never had to do this alone again.

Take care of YOU and your children, WHATEVER that looks like. (((hugs)))

Welcome CK,

I'm glad that you found us and reached out to connect. Living with and dealing with the disease of alcoholism is impossible for all of us alone. Al-Anon is a program that has been set up to help family members who live with the disease. First we need to know that we are powerless over this chronic, fatal, progressive disease and the best we can do is learn how to take care of ourselves in a constructive manner.
Face-to-face meetings are held in most communities and I urge you to check them out. The hotline number is found in the white pages

We have online meetings here every day. And here's the schedule

Morning Meetings

Mon. - Fri. at 9am EST

Sat. - Sun at 10am EST

Each Sunday morning at 10 am EST, we will be having a Spiritual meeting with a topic relating to the Spiritual part of our program.

Night Meetings

Mon-Saturday 9PM eastern time

Sunday 7PM eastern time

Each Thursday night at 9PM EST, we will be having a Step/Tradition Meeting to help new people get to know and understand how to work the 12 steps.
After going through one Step per week, and getting through the 12 of them, we then start a Tradition a week on this same night.

It is extremely important to break the isolation caused by living with this disease. I urge you to keep coming back.

Greetings CK-You have taken a wonderful step for yourself by coming to the board. Along with meetings, reading, and having a sponsor, this board has helped me feel understood and supported. And even if someone hasn't agreed with my choices, I can still grow and learn from all the perspectives. I am grateful for this board and I hope you will give it a try, Lyne

I know the misery of wondering and waiting. I'm fairly new here, but sounds like most people do. It is the worst type of torture. You aren't alone.

Thank you for reaching out ck78 - you are not alone.

Alcoholism is a ghastly disease, bigger than most of us, but not bigger than all of us when we pull together and join forces. Sending you (((((hugs))))) and hoping that you can find face to face meetings in your area. I remember when I first found Alanon it helped me to see how tired and worn out I was, and I resolved that I was not going to be that person any more. There are ways of looking after ourselves regardless of what the alcoholic is doing.

Take care of you and a BIG warm welcome to MIP.

Welcome, I am new here too. My boyfriend and father of my younger 2 kids is an alcoholic. I've dealt with his disappearing 9yrs now, Until I started reading stories here I didn't realize the disappearing thing was so common. There have been so many nights I've waited up praying he was safe. I too feel very alone in this. It helps to come here & talk about it, read stories.
