My Italian friends say Ciao for hello and goodbye. There are other words that are more specific but I like 'ciao' because it is a cheerful, informal word that one hears on every street corner and in every shop and it is usually accompanied by a smile and a wave of the hand. I like the fact that it is the same word for both situations, don't you?
You more than qualify for a seat at an Italian banquet with that much Italian blood flowing through you! I love the pasta and fish courses here and also the pride taken in locally produced food.
You are very welcome to another ((((((((hug))))))))) my friend!!!!!
I'm sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner, and that you are having a tough time of it at the moment. I have just been to our local Friday market where only a few stalls turned up to brave the hail and rain - but our favourite one, selling organic home grown vegetables was there, as was my Romanian friend who was braving the bad weather to ask for coins. I gave her an extra one from you Hoot Nanny. sending prayers that things look better soon
