Many of us come here already stirred up like a lady bug in a tornado the last thing we need is more drama

I posted on something that rippled me a little and instead of stopping and thinking I reacted and posted. I now am of course rethinking the whole thing, but you can never take it back, so my learning lesson in it all is to calm the waters and not to further add ripples or waves. We come here broken and battered early in recovery and need to be loved and healed. We already are so stirred up sometimes not knowing which way is up and so tired. Oh I remember being so tired of dragging all the carcasses of old! So I am sorry MIP family and I will remember I am here to pay it forward and to love on people until they can love themselves. To care for those not yet able to know and readily use the al-anon tools and slogans to detach and let go and let God with the troubles that threaten their serenity.

Thanks to al-anon I am a new person living a healthy life. I can breathe the fresh air of life and feel positive about the future. Keep coming back, because this program works when you work it! Sending you all love and support on your journey's!

I love the saying,a ladybug in a tornado. That is how I feel a lot.I am like that also.I can be very quick to spout off something.I have to practice.I am sure it will happen again, but I will learn from it.

Well, I took your analogy and created a mental picture of that poor lady bug and my heart went out to it right away. I often open my mouth and insert my foot and then have to go back and regroup, apologize, and make amends. I love what the program teaches us about this concept. In the past, I would shamefully hide and not deal with it or acknowledge it. Today I don't do that. Progress not perfection!

I love this! It's so true and what a wonderful analogy! I am so thankful for Al-Anon and the tools and the hope that it has given me! Thank you!

Paula, First time on this site. Is the artwork something you created yourself?

I really like your way of thinking about newcomers, loving them until they can love themselves, thats what i got in alanon at first too. I liked the post, i think its ok to show your care for someone, i do t see it as entering into the drama. Were here to support the newbies and each other. Sometimes, in my opinion, its important to say what you mean without saying it mean, i dont see it as reacting. Sometimes, for me, keeping things in is more about my sickness than saying it. Its a fine line between speaking your truth and not being ashamed of it and reacting with emotions like anger or resentment. Thanks for sharing bf.x

It shows a lot of maturity to accept when we make a mistake apologize and then move on. You seem like a beautiful person and I second the idea of Progress over Perfection, because we can all make progress, but I nor any other human will ever be perfect!
