We have watched him deteriorate for the last ten years. He has lost the love of most family members due to his alcoholic behavior. A month ago his wife said, " Enough, I want a divorce!" And then I think he found out how many bridges he had burned over the years because no one wanted him to move in with them. No one even wanted to help much as he still insisted that he was not an alcoholic, that his wife ( my sister) was just a b**** that told lies about him and on and on. In not accepting his condition, in not asking for help from AA, in denying it all, he lost his life. He apparently had developed some kind of stomach ulcer that burst and then they could not control the bleeding. What a waste of a life!
So sad and hopefully he is now at peace and your sister can rebuild her life with the help of you and maybe Al-Anon? Sending lots of support and prayers.

Ditto to what grateful says....yea, the A's who refuse help, will fight help to the bitter end....they are so bad off, they cannot see what they have done to their loved ones..to themselves........I see this passing as merciful....to him...to his family........sending peace and comfort energy to your sister......hopefully she can get into alanon??? sure hope she can find her much deserved and deferred peace........

Sadly this isn't the first time I've heard this symptom as the fatal nature of this disease has many ways of going about it. Still this is sad and I am feeling it with you and your family. It is a reminder and not a good one. Thanks for bringing it here with us. (((((hugs)))))
