Feeling feelings of loneliness, grief on Christmas Eve

My family has scattered after our qualifier died 3 years ago.

When our father died, the four of us came together to grieve for two weeks.

Now sisters are isolated and one sister,  refuses to speak to me or my siblings.

As the oldest sister, with sister 8 and 10 years younger I find it challenging today to mind my own recovery, and let go and let GOD.

To fill the void of family, I find myself wanting to act out.

Knowing that for me this program starts over again everyday.

Step one: I am powerless over others thoughts, ideas, desires.

If I keep the focus on my own recovery just for today.  Perhaps this day will end without me acting out in any way and no other person will be harmed.

I am grateful for this program of recovery, this day, my home,  work, friends and family even when we do not speak for long periods of time.

Welcome to MIP.  This can be a season of intense loneliness with or without recovery.  The gift of recovery is knowing our feelings, behaviors, triggers and using the tools we have, to the best of our ability, to bring us to a place of full blown peace or a piece of peace.  You seem to be living the serenity prayer.  We are here 24/7 to help ease the pain of the loneliness.  Gift yourself with something nice today, tomorrow and each day after thatsmile

Welcome to MIP PJ,

It is magical to have you join us on Christmas Eve, thank you for being here. When I start feeling as if I want to act out, which I do on a regular basis , I try to treat myself to something nice - a hot bath, a good walk, whatever it takes to feel my own hugs!

It is so lovely to read your gratitude list, even though you are feeling those feelings of loss. MIP is full of wonderful people from all around the world, and I treasure these folks like an extended family. It sounds as if you know how to pick up the tools of Alanon, so I hope that you will be extra kind to yourself. Sending you warm ((((((hugs)))))) from central Italy.

(((PJ))) You're not alone. I've experienced some of that myself. MIP, al-anon program work, my sponsor and truly good, healthy friends make a positive difference for me. Merry Christmas.
