My AD is Not Joining Us for the Holidays

So last week, my AD joined us for two family gatherings. It was nice to see her again after a year of her choosing not having any contact with me. Her sister invited her to join us for Christmas Eve dinner at a local restaurant. She flatly said "no." She also has chosen not to attend our family gathering on Christmas tomorrow with her grandma and other family members.

Two steps forward, one step back. Her sister and I both agree that, while we don't agree with her choices, they are her choices to make. She is very good at playing the victim. Last Christmas, she posted on Facebook that she was alone at Christmas and that her family had abandoned her. This, of course, was far from the truth. But it garnered a lot of attention (as Baby Kings/Queens do so well) and she had many responses from people who said things like, "You poor thing- let me take you out for drink."

This year, I'm going to keep the focus on me and my family whom I will spend the next couple days with. Will I miss my AD? Of course. Am I saddened by this? Yes. But I need to practice detaching with love and to let go and let God.

Merry Christmas to all of my MIP friends! Wishing you all the best and peace in your lives.

An update! My AD ending up changing her mind and joined us for Christmas dinner. And no drama! She wasn't warm, but she did play cards with us and stayed longer than she said she was going to stay. My HP had His own plan tonight- glad I let Him be in control smile

Merry Christmas Green Eyes .. it's it interesting the perspective one can gain regarding these situations after some time and healing has passed? You sound like your holidays were lovely and non stressful that is always a good thing!

Hugs S :)
