its about time I addressed this, think I need some help. I've started going to the pub at lunch and drinking 2-4 pints just to take the edge off how bad I feel. Can't sleep during the week and shake big time, anyone give some advice?
hi Al, takes a lot of courage to look at ourselves and realize we may have a problem.
You are very welcomed here, however, you may want to check out AA instead of alanon. Alanon is for people who have loved ones who are A. But then you are your own best friend, so welcome!
love, debilyn who is assuming you are in England? or?
Aloha Al! I ditto the suggestion that you take in several AA meeting in the next couple of days, (It was suggested to me that I do 90 meeting in 90 days...it worked) and sit and listen to what others share then make up your mind as to where you need to be. It may save your life, as it did mine.
Like others, I suggest the same thing. Check out some AA meetings. Do you have a desire to stop drinking? I believe page 21 of the "Big Book" for AA is a great read. It is only up to yourself to determine if you have a problem. You are clear headed enough to realize there may be something there. Going to Alanon is also a wonderful place to be as well.
I am learning there is nothing to be ashamed of. Whether we are Alanon or Alcholics. What matters is that we get into the program regardless. Put one foot infront of the other and work to better ourselves. I attend both meetings. I am not an alcoholic. I here many times, in the AA meetings how greatful some were for being an alcoholic.....they may have never have gotten where they are now.
Another thing I do, is find the people who work the program. Who I find to inspire me....then, I camp out next to them. It takes ME to get into the program though to get ME better.
