Just referred son to alanon Gone full circle

Things have just gone full circle.  I came to Alanon when my son started drinking as a teen. I grew up with an alcoholic dad & I am a dual program woman.  I am also in AA. So my son was also raised by an alcoholic.

He has the same broken picker that I had when I came to Alanon.  My heart breaks as I see him going through the exact same situations I went through.Our lives have paralleled eerily. I just told him to check out Alanon. Right now he's obsessing over his fear of being alone & self loathing because of bad choices.  It breaks my heart.   The bright side is he's planning on going to his first meeting. I'm trying to breathe until he actually gets there.

Katiemac Good work in referring him to alanon . The program works, as you know and he is worth it

Dear Katie....

you made amends...took responsibility for your mistakes an shared them w/your son....You "woman'd up" and  did the right thing.......

glad you are here....your son can benefit from alanon and its hope, strength and new path for a healthy good life.....You directed him to it, lets hope he drinks from alanon's well.....NOW the ball is in his court........sending you hugs of support and "alanon" energy to your son that he takes the life raft and works it.........some folks, in fact many, don't ever "own" their mistakes....redemption comes from being honest and making proper amends.....I respect you for doing that.......Please keep coming back ok?????  IN SUPPORT

Thanks so much neshema2!!! It's so crazy that he was my reason for getting to Alanon & now he's hearing the call. After all these years my HP still surprises me.

 Any ole time, my fellow recovery mate!!!!!  yea, life's never dull hey???  you opened your mind and heart and therefore your Higher Power was able to do a work..........LOVE hearing stuff like this!!!!!  Glad you are here....Your a gr8 example in what honesty, open mindedness and willingness can do.....sending loads of kudos and SUPPORT

Its a God thing now Kmac...turn him over and let his HP and the program have a shot at him.  Hopefully it will work as it worked for us.   smile
