Mahalo to my MIP sisters for the input, the honest shares in this post started by Aquamom. Honestly I've read thru it several times because of the open honesty you all brought to it. The last couple of times I read it with my heart and not my head which is where men often come from and I get to remember getting in contact with my feelings as taught by the women of Al-Anon after I arrived and found my chair. "You have to get in touch with your female side" some told me which originally just made me burb and then as I continued to hang around the rooms getting in touch with that feeling side of Jerry F happened and I experienced emotions I never knew I had and have now revisited in this post. Damn!! I understand more as I revisit old thoughts and feelings from back then along with the solutions which were given as needed.
I encourage all of you who have shared in that post to continue within your recovery so that you can arrive at the peace of mind and serenity that Al-Anon promises. I encourage you to share your stories with not only us who walk it with you an also those who have yet to know and understand that there is an answer question "What the hell do I do"?!!
I am impressed with the women of MIP...the elders and the courageous new comers and all in between as you are examples that I won't ever have to live like I use to when the disease was raging on a daily basis; wishing I could sleep and never have to wake up to it ever. Interesting Jerry, I sort of always thought of my al-anon journey as getting in touch with my "male" side, that being somewhat more pragmatic, less emotion based and helpless.
Isn't it interesting the way we classify our states of mind as being 'male" or "female"? I wonder how much of it is really inherent and how much of it is just programming.
Anyway I'm not trying to make a point one way or another, I just find it intriguing.
