Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share with you that today was my first day at a new job. It's one of those foot in the door kind of things and it a contract position so it will have an end date. I'm going to just take it a day at a time but today was a wonderful day.  A group of us were hired, not too many but we'll all be working together. It was so nice to be with down to earth people - no ageism or pretention. We spent a lot of the day learning more about one another and were told that we're being given a longer than usual company paid lunch time this week so we won't feel overwhelmed and will have a chance to get to know one another more. We were told if we wanted something permanent, it can happen and that people will be watching so if we're interested express it.

It's great to have a new beginning, be laughing more and feel a sense of freedom finally. A new hire who is my age asked me if they were to offer the current job to me on a permanent basis, if I planned to take it.  I laughed and said I didn't know since it's just the first day and I haven't even begun performing the job yet. That's such a change from the old days when I was new to Alanon. When I was new I didn't think I was worth much so whatever was given to me, I quickly accepted and felt lucky to get it. It was the same with my relationships. I didn't choose anyone. I waited to be chosen and equally unhealthy people usually found me.

So, I just wanted to let you know it went well and I'm looking forward to tomorrow :)  Thanks for letting me share.  TT
