I have been lurking a bunch since posting midsummer. First I want to say how moved I DMV by the deep reservoir of patience, kindness and honesty some of the regulars demonstrate here to person after person!! Truly remarkable. I feel badly to take up people's time and then disappear. One reason is I usually check the forum on my phone and i hate writing on my phone...but am doing it now. Second, I get stuck at the point of articulating what I want to say ...how to condense a complex situation?
So, my AH quit drinking almost 6 months ago. I was gonna leave but dcided to give it some time. Ivebeen going to AlAnon, got a dp

Hey Oceanpine, good to see ya...glad you reached out....is AH in recovery/AA?? or just trying to do it on his own??? I HOPE he is in AA and i am glad you are here in OUR nest...alanon is for us...AA is for them...Alanon shows US how to love US, find US, take care of US and you know...fellowship with other folks who have been there and done that or really close to it anyway....I am not married to my last AH, but i have two brothers who are active...one i had to cut off b/c he is bizarre even beyond my standards, and the older one, (next down from me) who is a sweetheart is active A and its gonna be hard when the disease kills him if he does not arrest it and be clean but I just work my program to keep the focus on me and hope for the best....

Hi oceanpine Glad that you took the time to share. This is how we recover--connecting honestly with each other in a supportive exchange and knowing that this is a fellowship of equals.
Please keep coming back.
Hi oceanpine. First off, you have absolutely nothing to feel bad about. We're here for each other. That's what we do, and I'm glad you are here. I'm so glad you are going to Al-Anon f2f meetings. Alcoholism is a wicked disease that affects not only the alcoholic but also the family and friends of the alcoholic. We can't help our alcoholics, but we an help ourselves through HP's guidance and Al-Anon.
Keep coming back
