Yesterday I started to talk to some one in line and they came right out and said I'm recovering alcholic . I said well nice to meet you thank you for being honest with me and your self . So since we had something in common already we started to talk about how alchol ruined our lives . Well he started to talk about his ex that is a drinker and took focus off himself . I shared my story with him how my ex was working his program then got involved in my program and stayed on my side of the street when he should of been cleaning his side up .. The man says what you live on 2 sides of the street ? How does that happen ? You buy a house next to each other .. I'm like this can not be a man that is in AA because he would know what Im saying what I'm reference to . He proceeds on to say he needs to figure out who he is and how he got lost ? I said to him well if your in recovery 18 months I think you should have a idea who you are buy now if you did your inventory steps , he said oh maybe you can help me with that and I said I would love to help you recover but I'm not a problem solver I can't fix ppl I can show you where you can go to get what you need to help you but I can not do it for you . Then he proceeds to tell me how he lost his license , and I said well sometime that needs to happen to some ppl who have a drinking problem that gets out of and and they don't know or realized how dangerous it is to have the ability to still be driving. By this time I had caught on , my alanon finally kicks in to gear , this man was trying to pick me up and usuing his recovery as a pick up line and a ride to where ever , I said I can tell you who you are already with out needed to take your inventory when you tossed it out to me . He said what inventory the 13 step ! I said oh my , I said there is no 13 step it stops at 12 and if you were really honest like you were in the beginning and telling me you were in recovery you should of also said that your not in AA . And if you were looking for me to fix you I can't help you . You need to do that yourself what makes you think I could fix you and he said well your a bartender right I said no and bartender down for work so you must know what I need . I said yes here is the number and gave him the local aa hot line and told him they have meetings around the clock he should not have a problem finding one . . My whole point here is that I still attract ppl that still actively drink and look to me to fix them and it's sad to see another active drinker try to manipulate a way to get a date get a dinner a drink and a ride home . I can only hope that this man takes the advise and gets to a meeting to get help because he can not recovery by himself and with out his higher power to guide him . Wisdom. To know the difference .
