Hi, Lulu. Welcome to MIP. Your feelings aren't taking a toll on your children and they are trying to help you wake up to get help for yourself. The suggested help we offer to anybody in your situation which is much like many of our situations have been is Al-Anon for friends and family members of people who drink to excess. The program is not for the drinker. It is for us who love the drinker. There you can find help and hope if you keep an open mind. MIP is not Al-Anon but there are many of us who are in the Al-Anon program and go to Al-Anon meetings in our area on a consistent basis. It makes a big difference that is very positive for those of us who walk the walk by working the program. We also suggest that you attend at least 6 meetings before you decide if Al-Anon is for you and not to make any major changes for a period of 6 months after you enter the program. I hope you do.

Hi and welcome glad you found us.

Is there anyone you can get to baby sit so you can get to an al anon meeting?

depression is one of the effects that alcoholism can have on us when we live with an alcoholic.  I ended up in front of an doctor and on tablets but nothing worked like al anon.  today I have my smile back !!

I spent so many years focusing on him and his drinking I had hardly anything left for my kids but all that changed thanks to al anon.

I suggest that you read as many reading as you can on here and try and get to a meeting I have learnt so much and gained  so much love and support, you don't need to struggle alone there are lots of people who understand.

hugs tracy xxxxx

There is help and hope. Living with the disease of alcoholism causes us to lose focus on our own lives and become irritable and unreasonable

Hi LuLu, "Getting Them Sober," by toby rice drew, volume one. Amazon, books. you can get one for about four or five bucks. that is with shipping. others will suggest other ones. I love this one as it is easy to read, and there is NO doubt it will help you.

Also you can search addiction. alcoholism, alcoholism affects on the family etc. I also looked at addiction, the affects of alcohol on the anatomy etc.

Yes you are in a very hard place dear one. It's so very hard on your kids too. Many of us have left or had him leave, I had two little ones but we made it.

First you learn about the disease, learn skills on how to better live with it. Get your mind more clear and get stronger. You do have options.

Keep coming. The meetings here are very good. This board is amazing and we will all help you. You can get better being where you are.  Feel free to give more details if you want. Don't worry about your share being too long!

welcome to our home, your home too if you want it! love, hope, faith!!!
