Ask someone that you feel would be a good fit.  They will eventually respond yes or no.  When I asked the gal who eventually became my sponsor, she asked for a few days to consider my request.  I appreciated her response, as I knew she would not take the relationship lightly.  Good luck!

If I remember correctly, you've been able to attend one face to face meeting on a Monday night. It took me awhile of attendance to ask someone to sponsor me. She turned me down because she "was too self-centered to sponsor." I asked my HP to show me the person who would be right for me as a sponsor and it turned out that the person I had first thought about and then said, "No, I don't think she's right for me," ended up being the person my HP had chosen for me. What a godsend she was. We are still in recovery together and I did ask another woman later on to sponsor me after years with this gal because once again, my HP seemed to be saying: "Ask her." I did and she said, "Yes." I'm very happy with her, too. And she had also demonstrated that she was working the program and it took some time for me to see that. It might take some time in regular attendance before you recognize someone who has what you want? Asking for my HP's guidance was a big help to me in asking a person to sponsor me together with regular attendance.

Dear looking up, while you take your time looking for a sponsor I suggest that you can still advance in the program by posting here, using the slogans, saying the serenity prayer and living one day at a time.

I know you attend the online meetings here and maybe someone at the online meeting might be able to help you.
I found that the slogans led me easily to the steps. For example;
Let go and Let God represented the first three steps
listen and learn reminded me to keep the focus on myself and examined my motives.
Live and let live and one day at a time reminded me to practice these principles in all my affairs.

The slogans are posted in the form of a poem that is extremely helpful. Here is the link

hey LU. I agree with G2B and HR. I worked through the first three steps with my Al-Anon group. I would suggest getting to know the people in your group first. During the shares you will recognize the person who seems to fit your personality. This will probably take a little time. You'll know when it's time to ask for a sponsor.

smile good luck to you and keep coming back.
