My grandson is in his high school Marching Band. Yesterday was their first competition. I was excited about going and then ended up with what I call a flare up of "my glop" and couldn't go. There were many storms predicted and that happened in his travels to the HS football field where he was supposed to play and back home. The Class he is in puts his school in the underdog position. They don't have the numbers and they don't have the money that other schools have to afford props, cute stuff, expensive instruments and other things that can attract the judges votes. His Mom called me on her way home. His school came in 6th out of 7. Last year, his school started at 7 out of 8 and placed 2nd in the overall competition. This year, the music picked by their teacher isn't as popular as last year either and that also puts his school at a disadvantage.
I talked with him today and asked about the competition. He shared what he could. Then I asked about the rain. "Yes, Nana, it rained until we walked onto the field and all of a sudden the rain stopped and a double rainbow was over us the whole time we played."
It has been my experience in life that double rainbows do show up especially for those who are the underdogs in a situation. The time to get excited isn't when things are going well to our way of thinking. I do think the time to get excited is when we are the underdog in a situation and all of heaven conspires to lift us up and move us on and move us up - maybe not to #1 position - but to a higher place than where we started. Our job is just to keep playing come what may.

I love that he noticed the rainbows and saw the connection between them showing up on the field and the beautiful colors in the sky. Colors on the field and in the sky....
Lovely observations from your grandson and your self Catherine. Being in the moment and Keeping on Keeping on is the key. I know that my HP has lifted me up out of the darkness on many occasions.and I have always been so very grateful and aware.
I hope you feel better soon Catherine. Your grandson sounds like a lovely young man, so beautiful that he enjoyed the double rainbows. Just goes to show whose side the weather gods were on!
I love your new avatar, it reminds me of a place in England where I used to meet up with my american friends. Such beautiful fall colours.
MW: It is a beautiful place, isn't it. Hidden in a way and then not hidden. I don't know why I was drawn to it and maybe it is because the British blood of my ancestry coursing through my veins picked it? :^)
Thanks, Paula. Today is day 3 of yuck. I am so glad I am retired now. No way would I want to go to work and yet I'd still have to do it. Retired allows for staying home when I need to do it. Love it!
Anymore, who knows what we're eating or what is truly causing ill health. According to some research, 99% of most flu, GI distress, etc is food borne. Makes one want to carry test kits to the grocery or microscopes and petri dishes.
Debilyn: I have never even worn a two piece in my lifetime. Always one piece. My favorite suit for aqua yoga is an Esther Williams style black with red cherries and ties at the neck. I'm hoping I can leave home to go get in that warm water pool. I am richer for knowing you, too, Debilyn. You know that I always see you as a face of unconditional love. In this money talks world - that's a beautiful face to see. Thank you.
Love that and can relate. The underdog always has my vote.x
I had to grin here, elcee, not because the underdog always has your vote but because I think there might be a little tongue in cheek humor in your post, Miss Blue and White Butterfly. (((L)))
I have two kids in HS marching band. I actually prefer a band that concentrates on its music and performance, and not on props or recorded special effects.
