This is hard

It's hard to pick up myself and go on with my life when he abf is here every morning and nite.i don't know where to start except meetings, reading and working steps, and visiting with friends.its hard to put him in the back of my mind when I'm with him a lot and he stays here.

Is it his place, your place or both? Who makes the payment / rent?

You should start putting together a plan, maybe you need some real time apart? Can you stay with family?

Looking do the best with what you have for now.  None of us "got it" in the first few days or weeks of recovery...literature, meetings, listening with an open mind, sponsorship, prayer and meditation, MIP participation and more are all recovery tools.  Changing the things I can was a key instruction to me from the elders and then I was told "There is only one thing you have to change in this program...everything".  It works when you work it and you're worth it.   ((((hugs))))smile

Hey lookingup,

you said, "i don't know where to start except meetings, reading and working steps, and visiting with friends." What better way to start? The more reading you do, the more meetings you attend and the more friends that you visit, the stronger you will become. You will find your answers and know what is best for you. Keep working your program, reading, meeting and visiting.

((hugs LU))

Hi Lookingup,

I think that your plan sounds good - meetings, reading, working steps and visiting with friends are all good for you. We don't have to do everything at once.

It's true that it's hard to detach when someone is right there at hand reeling us back in, and our own addictive tendencies are baiting us to go along with it.

Maybe a plan for some time apart would be one way to tackle this.  It doesn't have to happen yet -- just having a plan is often freeing.
