Im getting on a plane today for the first time in years and im flying to italy. Im going to rome. Last night I had a bit of a panic attack about it, I got scared about flying, the coming out of my comfort zone, leaving my sons behind, wee bit of guilt, im going with my daughter for some mother, daughter time, a bit of an amends to her. Today, im okay, im putting my faith in my higher power that I will survive flying and if not, well, as long as I die quickly I suppose its ok. If there is chaos and dysfunction here well what I dont know wont hurt me and maybe its for the best in the long term and part of a bigger learning curve for me. The most important thing for me is that I have this program, I can handle anything with these tools. Feeling grateful, thanks alanon.x
el cee: Using your program tools to face your fears, make amends, and let your sons do what they'll do while you soak up the sights and sounds and tastes of Rome - Woo Hoo! The bigger issue might be getting used to drivers parking in small spaces by pushing others cars out of the way. When you realize your car is safe and sound in its parked location at home, you'll have another something to put on your gratitude list! What memories you and your daughter will build together. Happy, happy new experience, el cee.
I love flying and feel it is really safe. We have had a lot in the news lately that makes us think otherwise but there are of course so many many more planes that fly each day without any trouble.
You are safer in the air than you are in a car on the ground. Enjoy every second, your higher power has you in the palm of his hand and you are not going anywhere or going to experience one single thing ever that he has not already signed off on. Enjoy every single second, from standing in line to seeing beautiful sights.
Congrats on being able to do this with your daughter! Many will only dream of such a vacation.
I hope that you and your daughter have a marvellous time - Rome is beautiful, with history layering every pavement you walk on. I hope that you get a chance to soak it up and also a chance to enjoy the ice cream together. It is lovely to think of you bringing a little bit of Scotland to these latin shores.
well you surely are on your way! I am so excited for you. I always think the train might derail too when i go on my short little jaunts! lol YES pictures!!! hugs

(((((LC)))))....just love this post...the whole thing including your modesty and of course your humor. You are a cutie!! and yes I had to look twice and then get your direction on who is who. This is another example of it works when you work it so I will just continue working it myself also. Did the Pope ask for advise?? lol Is he gonna need you to run the church while he is out of town?? Betcha could do it. (((((hugs)))))
Thanks jerry, I was thinking that myself when I went to the vatican, I could run the show. Lol.i would post more pictures but cant get them smaller. Will try on my pc when I work out how to transfer them.x
Beautiful picture, el cee. I'm glad you went on this adventure with your daughter and are happy you did it, too! Nice photos of the both of you! Glad to know what you look like, sister.
LOL!! El-Cee with a Mitre and robes and staff and 12 steps and traditions and a pointy finger. Catholicism was another "ism" that ran side by side with alcoholism in my families of origin. Would be nice to see how a woman could handle these guys. We already know how "these guys" have been doing the job...no further comment. Would a smaller camera work? or smaller people...hmmmm bigger computer screens?...help me out you guys!! ((((hugs))))
Hey didn't notice it until I took and 5th and 6th other look...do you see that you and your daughter share another smaller ear? Better communications? Amazing.

My daughter and I were discussing this very thing jerry. We heard someone In the queue to the vatican say to their child that this was another empire. Very thought provoking. Im not religious so I never got what others may have from the visit. I didnt feel my higher power there really. The artwork is amazing, especially michaelangelo, s work, its almost 3d, jaw dropping. I did buy some rosary beads but I dont know how to use them but I thought well maybe I could use them with my alanon program in my own way. Smaller people would be good for me, but il try the smaller picture method soon.x
Elcee, I can't see any wrinkles - it is a fabulous picture and I'm wondering if your daughter ever gets fed up with people thinking you are sisters? I can see the spare ear though - very funny!
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your trip. The first time I visited the Vatican I was slightly upset by the opulence of it all but I was lucky enough to go back there again this year and it really is an amazing place - here is a picture that I took in January to remind you of your trip.
Thanks for the comments. We have been mistaken for sisters or friends before, she is not impressed with that. Lol. I love italy, well the parts I saw, rome and naples. The people are beautiful, brown eyes, sallow skin, dark hair. Especially children, they have a lovely look about them. The buikdings and history were breathtaking. I want o4 go back but only to rome in the spring or autumn, the heat was intense. It was good for me to come out of my comfort zone, im going to try and come out of it more often.x
