Holidays can be hard in most of our situations and I remember last year sitting on the couch SO lonely on the 4th of July. I caught the televised fireworks from DC and since I'm only a couple of hours away and it is something I have always wanted to do, I vowed that this would be the year. I still don't know if my (R)? AH is slipping or not - my sons say no - but I've had no contact with him (nor have I called the atty.) but I'm doing my own recovery and leaving him to his issues. Anyway, I followed through and my oldest son and I spent the day celebrating this great country in our nation's capitol. The weather was beautiful and the people were wonderful. SO glad I made plans and didn't brood. Here's a few pictures to share. :)

I really love the 4th of July too. Thanks for sharing your holiday and the pictures. From what I see in the picture with your son, it looks like you both had a really great day with one another! :) TT

Well, sister, there is certainly no missing the family resemblance between your son and you. Loved the photos. I also like the fact that you chose to do something that you've really wanted to do and that you did it with one of the treasures of your life!
