Recovery Is Confusing, Hard & Wonderful

I took a little bit of a time out from posting since my thoughts were scattered and I didn't feel I had much to offer while I was so confused but I have been in reading regularly so I have kept up with everyone else's lives. I am feeling more clear-headed these days and I miss talking to everyone so I wanted to jump back in and say I hope my old buddies/family members remember me and I hope my story may provide the new arrivals with some hope of how an A can step up and make a new life for themselves when we put ourselves first and stop "helping" them to death. Al Anon works!! It saved my sanity and in the end, I believe it gave my RAH the best shot at stepping up and making the changes that are helping him now. He will be 1 year sober in July. We are still separated and will be for a while (my decision) but it's nice to be able to spend some time with someone I thought was gone forever and to know he's reliable again for me and our sons. Time will tell how this story ends but for now, we are working on ourselves and that's enough. :)

Nice to have you pop back in...missed you and didn't think it had been this long.   Yay for the RAH (does that sound even sane?) Oh well sending you and him love and prayers knowing that if you both keep doing what you have been doing it will get better beyond your wildest imagination.   (((((WOMFI and RAH)))))  smile

This is good to read. And there is much wisdom in your post. Seem like a set of miracles for one person to go from drunk to recovering....but more so for you- "Worn out Ms. Fix it" to Serene, wise, effective coping Ms. Healthy :)
