Alanon Daily Readers

The ODAT for today summarizes the first and second step. It reviews the difficulty of surrendering control and trusting that there is a power greater than ourselves that has any concern  about us.

I know when I first entered Al-Anon I did not have a faith in the Power Greater than MYSELF  and for a number of years I used the Al-Anon program, the Al-Anon principles, the slogans, the steps as a power greater than myself that I could surrender to. That enabled me to work the first three steps and for that I am truly grateful.

The quote suggests that if we look around at what goes on in nature and in the world every day we will see that there is a higher law than our own  will and that a believing love will relieve us of a vast load of care.

I love to watch an eagle nest Cam located in Decorah  Every year the Mom and Dad prepare the nest, in January and February, lay eggs and nurture their babies all under the watchful eye of a hidden camera  It is beautiful to behold and I too agree that by simply watching nature , I can readily accept that : "God Exists" This particular nest has had 20 little eaglets brought to fledge, 3 this year and last  and  each year I marvel.

Thanks for letting me share.

WOW, Betty, I enjoyed reading this

as to the program being your higher power, that is kinda where I am still at, sorta , however, I too, when i see love in action,  or like u said baby animals/birds being born, cared for, etc., yea, there is something greater than I who created all this...

my problem has always been , yea, I know there is a creator, a universal energy whose thoughts created the universe, MY problem has been, its like  he/she/it created me, gave me survival tools and like said "ok, make it work...u r on your own"  but there are times I see something really cool out of nowhere or i have a problem over which i am  powerless and someone comes to the rescue, or i get unexpected help,  then it becomes more of a  "yea, it cold be there is something more powerful than me and it DOES care about me".......OR i could say, i put out good energy and just getting it back????   i will have ???s till i die.....i do believe in the laws of karma.....what goes around does, eventually come around...that is why i want to clean up my act, mend my fences, make amends and try to go to the other side as low on baggage as i can.....i don't want to cross over needing every moving van in the country....a light carry on and my purse would be good.....creator will go over w/me all the crap i did not work through and its gonna be a big enough "audit" on me....i just want to carry as little baggage as possible.....comb and lip gloss and deodorant and thats it

I  hear you and do understand.    You are working so very hard and I can see that baggage getting lighter  and lighter biggrin

Comb, lip gloss and deodorant is enough smile

We may all be weightless in the crossover, Rose! Maybe that kind of baggage - meaning Liam and George - won't weigh a thing!

Great share!!! I used to live on lake Michigan and rented a beach house from some people when I first left exAh and we had bald eagles with fledglings around and it was awesome to watch live in our back yard. Thanks for the reminder of program and nature!

I love how you brought the program into nature, because I spend a lot of time enjoying the world that God created and marveling at the creatures here on earth. Thank you for sharing with us, as always!!

I love that, I see god in trees. I walk past these amazing trees In the morning, honestly, they are beautiful, huge and firm. They just are, just the what is i like to be reminded of and I feel when watching them change from their wee buds to flowering to the green, green leaves. I always feel a connection when I look at them closely. Its the law of nature I see and im part of that, I am powerless and so I should be. I must look like a nutter sometimes, I just stop and study them for a few moments sometimes.x

Thank you Betty :) Since the program I find I'm becoming more present and aware. On my way to my meeting this morning I noticed someone flying a kite and that the moon was still up :) I notice hawks all the time. How wonderful to notice the little good things instead of noticing all the little things that used to irritate me.

I used to feel that way when i would run away on my paint horse and we would make camp by the pine trees....if the wind was right, I could not only hear the soft sound of their pine needles rustling, but i could smell them......yea, trees are cool

Betty thankyou! This meant all the more because you showed how your  heart felt about todays ODAT!

YES I love cams too. My favorite is and always will be the one of a small water hole in Africa.

I believe a new earth will be here after this mess is over. My dream is to go to Africa and hang with elephants!

hugs!
