We do have to be careful what we post on our mip board.

Please make sure you check before you share things, that what you are sharing is ok'd by the author.

It is illegal, in Al Anon and on mip we do not support illegal events even if they may never be found.

We could lose our MIP, and John could be in trouble if we do this.It has been a rule here on MIP for many years.

Mods are here to help support rules so we are safe. We don't do this out of our personal desires.

I want to share once I asked someone to share the daily odat and c2c. I got into trouble for that..oops! (c:

2.Q. Is it okay to copy and post things out of our literature (like One Day at a Time, Courage to Change, etc.) on the message board?

A. In the Al-Anon/Alateen service manual it states the following:
Service Tools/Material and Electronic Publishing A listing of Al-Anon/Alateen service tools/materials that may be posted on Web sites is found on the WSO Web site: www.al-anon.alateen.org. A credit line "Reprinted by permission of Al-Anon Family Headquarters, Inc" Is required. No other Al-Anon/Alateen copyrighted literature may be reprinted electronically without express written permission from the WSO.

Anytime copyrighted material is posted on the internet on a message board such as this without the written permission of the author, it is in violation of copyright law. It is out of respect for the publisher, and to insure the future of this site's existence and for who find experience, strength and hope here and the ones who may find their way here in the future that we should all respect the copyright laws.

For this reason, it is best to post only original material.

Why is it that this thread shows 8 replies to it and none of them are showing? Are they being removed? If so, why? And... not having seen anything that would constitute a copyright violation why is this thread being put up as a sticky on the board? It should be a regular post.

Just curious as to what is bringing this about, and why the replies are not visible.

Are you asking the question of Debilyn or the board, John?  As a reader, I can say that copyrighted material - ODAT in sequential order was being posted daily on the board.  It was removed.  I appreciated Debilyn posting a sticky so that it was easily accessed and because the question continues to resurface.  The most recent response to it was in a post on July 13 or July 18th (can't remember which), 2013, wherein you responded twice to both us and Neshema on a question she had raised about posting copyrighted material and several of us had weighed in on at the time.  You were very clear as to what you thought would be acceptable and why, but not everybody who has started on this board since we discussed it last summer has seen it.  Hope this clears up some of this.  Debilyn is the only person who can really clear up the rest of it for you.

hmmm I have no idea what the 8 responses were as I did not see them! Unless they were on the sticky?

A member was quite rude and inappropriate to me when I gently reminded them on pm we cannot put this material on the board. That was deleted for unacceptable posting.

Then others wanted to know more so I found the rule and put it on top so everyone could always see it. It has been a continuing problem on mip. So makes it easier to have it right up there.
