The Story and the Truth

i can't take credit for this one but it's got me thinking quite a bit. In yoga tonight the instructor told us there are two things, the story, and the truth. The story consists of all the dramatic details, i.e. the A drank a whole bottle of vodka then took off in his car and called and verbally attacked me and called me awful names...the drama, draining and exhausting. The truth, I am a sick woman, partly because I learned sick behavior patterns from my family, partly because I fell in love with a very sick man who may never get better. I am getting better on my own with the love and guidance of HP and Al Anon. I don't know why this struck me so profoundly. The truth is I am trying to get better and HP is seeing that everyone in the equation is doing exactly as they should be according to a greater plan. The story, well, it's old. We all have the same story in a way. Woven together in a very beautiful way people who may never come face to face but have the ability to bring peace in moments of chaos, give hugs and love in desperate moments. Pray and care for each other. Heal. That's my truth. God has blessed us with each other.

Dear MM,

I totally agree with you, and I have never known anywhere so safe and nonjudgmental as here, what ever the problem it can be brought  and shared and then along with that brings an abundance of love and support, different eyes and ears to see and listen and help when we feel we have lost all hope, we hold each other around the world and it is wonderful to be part of the link that forms the chain.

Well, your share got my juices flowing because I have been in a slump lately. You never know who will help you or how it's done but when we keep in contact, HP will give us just what we need when we need it.

I love this, I think its real evidence of our progress when we can look at our own part in it all, thats the only part we can change like the serenity prayer says, its useless looking at the a and analysing, trying to make sense of insanity. Thank you.x
