I think I remember that when I feel so down it is time to do something for me.... but it feels so far from possible today. Adolescent daughters and my work as a nurse and a sober BF who feels a million miles away. Everything weighs on me. So many struggles. I know there is a brighter day ahead, but it sure is hard to imagine. Looking forward to clarity and strength returning. I have work to do.
I read something today that seems to fit. It went something like this: "Today is a difficult day. The good news is that I have survived 100% of my difficult days so far, and that's pretty good." I hope your days improve!
Feeling my feelings and sharing them as you are doing helps me. When I'm feeling overwhelmed and ask for my HP's help, sometimes I'm shown exactly what I can do easily and drop easily. The slogans "Keep it simple," "Easy does it," "Be gentle with yourself" can also be helps for me. Being a person who has spent years putting others first and not myself, remembering God first, me next, family and other relationships after tending to myself doesn't come naturally. I'm making progress one day at a time with correcting the order. I have often allowed myself to get too hungry, too angry, too lonely, too tired (too tired is the main one) and have learned that my day can start again when I catch myself doing too much for others and not enough for me. Glad you're here. Keep coming back.

Fifi, I am a nurse too. We are always taking care of other people! I talked to the chaplain at my work and she helped me a lot. Taking care of myself includes going to a meeting, reading al anon books and talking to my sponsor. This forum has helped a lot too!! Keep coming back!
Gratitude lists are invaluable for me as I heal to remind myself that even with the not so fun stuff going on there is actually a lot of positive things going on. I listen to speaker CD's as well and that helps remind me that others have been in my position and found a way out of it. When I first came into Alanon someone suggested an A-Z list .. I honestly didn't think I could find 1 thing to be grateful for .. however .. I started smaller .. 5 things when I get up and 5 things when I go to bed. Then the A-Z didn't seem big after that .. hugs S :)
