Fear

When I walked in my first Alanon meeting over 21 years ago, I had so much fear and anger.  Today I found a quote about fear. I plan to write it in my Alanon book.

"Hope is stronger than fear."

Another quote is "courage is fear that has said its prayers."

That one helped me over the years.   it helped me remember that my HP is with me.  I learned that by praying for help from my HP my fears became smaller and smaller. Another thing that helped was when I realized that at leat 95% of the things I was fearful might happen never did. I was predicting things that didn't even happen.

Not I have a new phrase...Hope is stronger than fear. That one jumped out at me because the one thing I took with me from my very first meeting was HOPE. I learned that others had been thru what I had and came out on the other side with serenity, peace, happiness, and they had learned ways to cope with the fear where it no longer paralyzed them.

WOW!! Lin Thanks so much for that view. I agree I was filled with Hope from my first alanon meeting. Not the false" hope" of magical thinking , that everything was going to be just fine and way I wanted it . Hope that I was not alone and that there was help for me and my life.--and there was

Mahalo Lin...that's a great lesson for me because it just doesn't only describe fear...it gives me an alternative.  That I can use now...today...ongoing and I will. (((((hugs))))) smile
