Just finished reading Getting Them Sober

Even though it is a small book I have taken my time in reading it.  I see myself in almost every page.  I do think, for me, that this will be a book I can read again and again when I "slip" and say more than I should.  I want to get healthy for me.  I don't want to have that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, feel ashamed, depressed and angry.  I really want to feel like a normal person.

I have read it many times along with all my other Al-anon books. Daily reading helps so much to start your day and give you good thoughts and the courage to move forward no matter what is going on around you.

((( hugs )))

I loved all of the GSB books! When you're ready, try reading the next one in the series. Oh, and normal is overrated! Hugs and keep working that program!

Jen even with chronic depression we can wake up like any 12 step program and say, today I choose to be happy. then do it. even if it feels wrong. I will then get a bad thing then think or say, no, I am choosing happy thendo a happy thing like throw the bad news behind my pickup seat! lol

sometimes its changing how we react and how we protect our self. My self is very tender, easily hurt. I have changed to not allow that. I protect me like i would another person or animal.

we can change or negative crap talk in our heads to positive things. I am great how I am. I am older and wiser, I love being a woman. I have a dang tummy but my arms and legs are nice. NEVEr say negative things, it serves NO purpose.

al anon has taught me to let go of the bs, to really look at the obstacle. Is it mine to fix or not, do I choose to andhow.

this program is soo much more than 12 steps its all the quotes and light bulb moments others share, its learning to be confidant, learning we have worth.

hugs! You are sooo wonderful to have here, loved this share!

Thank you! I think Ala-Non works in our everyday life with or without a A. I see people sweating the small stuff and think to myself just let it go. Is it worth getting your blood pressure up because you don't like what other people are doing? I think not. I feel better about myself today. Sometimes it is 1 hour at a time! Thanks Debilyn. I really appreciate your feedback. P.S. Love all of your animals too!

One of the best books I have read and I love it! Glad you posted about that book, it is a great read for any of us affected by alcoholism. Sending you love and support!
