***ATTENTION ALL MIP MEMBERS***

http://meetinginfo.activeboard.com/t57236795/wso-registration-procedure-group-liaisons-findings/

If you would like to be involved in the MIP AFG group decision making process this would be a great time to participate.

We are currently addressing the process and procedure for getting registered with AFG World Service Office and the pros and cons of doing so as an online group.

When this decision will go to the. Group Business meeting floor as motion for group vote is still to be determined but now is when information is being shared so the group can make a well informed decision.

Please take a few minutes out of your time soon to get up to date on the current information available.

You are also welcome to share your ideas, thoughts and suggestions on the issue under the current thread that is linked to above.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

John

I think this is a conscience matter. In Aanon we do listen to individuals and minorities and try to work things through.

Im most of our homes, maybe all of our homes, our ideas and opinions were not listened to. Sometimes they were even ridiculed and rubbished.

I am responding to Debilyn's posting here, and at the top of the board.

For myself I do not subscribe to the chat meetings. But for me the board here is a 24/7 meeting. because of this what I am saying relates to the board alone.

The proposal is that the MIP Alanon chat-meets, and the message board become registered Alanon groups.

Debilyn's concern is that we may not get to have the freedom we enjoy now if we are connected to Alanon.

TRADITION 4 says that each group should be autonomous, except in matters affecting another group, or Alanon or AA as a whole.

The Alanon board is open to the sky and the shares retained, making it more prone to criticism. However, in my view the criticism would have to be made to the group as a whole. And the group, person or people subject to that criticism would have the chance to answer any questions.

A major concern might relate to

  • use of, or discussion about non-Cal literature
  • dealing with other addictions
  • discussion of things like codependency

My opinion is that we have to ask ourselves 'how important is it?  If any of the above became to sole topic, or even the sole function of the group, I am sure most of us would jump up and down.

many of us have not had much of a hearing in our lives. My experience of this board is that it does a fine job. It shows both tolerance and respect to all who meet here and share.

I respect John highly for wanting to spread out the responsibility for running this board. it is important to recognise that he is a member of the board in his own right.

I support the proposal for change. However I feel it needs to be discussed as widely as possible.

I wasn't able to log into the other area to respond, seems I forgot my password.  I read through the thread, appreciated the openness in your posting, John, and the time you invested, Tigger, in doing the research.  I see no benefit in having any further involvement by the WSO.  I also agree with grateful that members in greater positions of authority would best serve the group if they were in regular attendance in al anon meetings and have an active sponsorship relationship...this would also include the position of moderator.
