How often do you talk to your sponsor?

I went to dinner with a program friend the other night and she was talking about her sponsor and revealed that she talks to her sponsor daily.  I have to admit that I was jealous because I only speak to my sponsor weekly and because she has so many other sponsees, I try not to call her the rest of the week.  Granted, I do have lots of friends in program and I can call them, but my sponsor knows more of the dirty details(for lack of a better term) so it's easier to talk to her and get a quick piece of feedback or guidance from her than it would be with others in program.

I think I brought this up once before and was contemplating finding a new sponsor, but I do love my sponsor and I love what she has to say when we do talk.  Can you tell I have trouble making decisions, LOL?

I speak to my sponsees daily---Monday thru Friday.  Mostly to begin the day by reinforcing , program tools, asset and gratitude lists and discuss the daily ODAT reading.

After over 30 years in program i speak to my sponser once a week.

I talk to mine weekly, much more my first year of program and it is scheduled, but I do call her more when I need to get into the details more often and have something bigger going on. You can always add one if you know of another possible one. Sending you love and support!

You said you try to not to call her the rest of the week, since she has so many sponsees. Have you asked her if she would mind if you upped the call frequency?

I talk to mine 2-3 times a week, sometimes more. I would suggest you ask your sponsor if she minds more calls from you.

My sponsor is online and we email daily. This has been happening for about a year. I'm sure down the road I can cut down but I am happy with the daily contact. What's nice about the online relationship is that we both can write when the time fits our schedule. I also attend a F2F meeting 1xwk and I love my meeting, but no one there has the length of time in program and therefore such an abundance of ESH. I liked the suggestions of asking if you can have more frequent contact, and maybe an email or two a week would work. If not, I would add a second sponsor who can meet your needs better . Lyne

Although I've been program for a long while, I still interact with my sponsor daily. I've been going through some major shifts in my life and her being there with care and program tools in hand has helped me through the different shifts in ways that were growth inducing and necessary.

I don't speak or even email my sponsor daily.  Here lately we have been trying to meet up once a week as there has been some "issues" in our small Al-Anon group (as I discussed on another thread).  My sponsor is also a co-dependent but is less likely to rock the boat when it comes to some issues that need to be addressed in our group (like lack of attendance of core members).  I refuse to continue to make excuses for those who don't have the gumption to let the rest of us (3) know she won't be there.  My sponsor gives me a lot of good advice & I give him some advice as well but I think he's a bit afraid to deal with some issues involving our Al-Anon group & that troubles me a lot.
