Had dinner with a friend this evening. It had been quite some time since we had caught up and I relayed the tale of the crazy cat lady to her. She thought it was horrifying and hilarious, and after I had finished describing what had gone down, I mentioned that even though she apparently has a huge collection of cats and she talks about them non-stop, I've never actually seen or even heard one of them, even when I was standing at her front door and could see right into the house. There wasn't any sign of an actual cat. And I also mentioned that I knew which house was hers because the front garden is full of little cat statues.

And my friend just smiled at me and said "you know what you've got there, don't you Mel?"

Aha!! I've had some pretty severe writers block for a couple of months, but no more! The tale of the cat lady is more or less writing itself already.

I'll have to resist the urge to put a copy in her mailbox when I'm done
