Prayers

It has been a week is putting it mildly and I've had the opportunity to share some Alanon with some friends even.  I am grateful for the experience.  What I love so much about this program I can give it away and other people don't know I'm doing it. wink

There is a lot of addiction issues and consequences from said issues going on:

Please lift in prayer an addict who has chosen to ignore some health issues they have going on and now things are so bad that in order to "fix" the situation the prognosis is removal of their eyes and part of their mouth.  Even then there is no guarantee things are going to be ok.  They are opting out of the surgery due to the addicts living situation.  I don't know what choice I would make based upon quality over quantity of the rest of my life.  We pondered that question together as it's a difficult choice.  The family is devastated and has been through a LOT in the past few years.  This is not a surprising outcome to this situation as it's been literally festering for 3 years now.  It did bring to light the level of denial and self loathing that goes with addiction because no one in their right mind would do this to themselves.  It is a powerful, cunning, baffling disease.

Another friend's spouse is struggling with addiction as well.  The addict has already entered treatment.  I'm so grateful that there is still awareness and at least they know this behavior is not ok.

I truly am feeling a great deal of dislike for this disease .. at the same time so grateful that it's my turn to be there for others.

Hugs S :)

PS - Thank you in advance for all of your prayers for these two families.

Prayers. You are right, no one would willingly make this choice.
