to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I just wanted to mention what al anon has given me. It has given me a choice. We can choose whether or not to live with an alcoholic. Nowhere in the literature that I have read does it say "you must live with an alcoholic". Al anon gives us tools to live by. Tools to use whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. yes it is categorized as a disease...but that does not mean alcoholics should get away with anything they want and we should walk on egg shells around them!
I just left my A husband after 11 years. sure I feel sad and have mixed feelings. But you know what? I can finally sleep peacefully!! No more worrying about what he is doing and how I will find him. I have found a healthier way of living. That means I take care of myself first. I am sharing because I feel so strongly about all the wisdom and courage I have gained from al anon, my sponsor and God. I am thankful al anon does not tell us what to do. It's up to us to decide what we can handle. Living with alcoholism is usually too much for most to handle.

Alanon is such a unique place and program where you are loved and cared for as you move through the process of finding (and living) your truth. Sometimes that truth is to stay and continue to work a program, sometimes that truth takes a while to come out of hiding (we are so good at hiding it aren't we), and sometimes that truth is to move on. I hope and pray that we all are able to find our truth and I am proud of you. Thank you for sharing your courage and excitement.
Sometimes we sit and wait to see what will be revealed and other times we know all we want to know about that subject. It is all one and the same story but the details are different in all of us. We can't give advice because we don't know everything there is about someone else's life. Only they know what is in their mind so they have to make their own choices. We give our own experiences and let them learn from us. It is a very unique program.
