did I not learn anything 30 years ago? I was fortunate in that I had a clean and sober partner for a long time until the feelings of despair overcame him once again, he is also bi polar one which has been a struggle all those years. Right now he is on a downward spiral and I do not know how to help. Al anon helped me in previous years but when he was better I did not attend meetings. He has a new doctor but trying to get him back on an even keel is a battle. He was taken off his meds and now they are trying others but the mood swings are that much greater. Oh well tomorrow is another day.
Welcome to MIP where the Al-anon fellowship hangs out online. I'm guessing you know what to do so get out that old tool box and dust off your tools because you just might need one or two in the future.

Aloha Newbie and welcome (back) to the MIP Family board and if you decided, the Al-Anon Family Groups. When I found the doors of Al-Anon in 1979 I came to understand that I would not be able to have a life beyond 37 years of age with out help, without support. I was told I had to get away from all things alcohol and so I walked away from my alcoholic/addict wife and my alcoholic family of orgin and started building a life alcohol (ic) (ism) free and still today it is not totally free and I guess that is my HP reminding me that the disease is still here and that I can plug into it anytime even without intending to. Today I give back alot and still receive alot from the fellowship. My original program (self) didn't work and I had to be re-programed. This one works everytime I work it. Hope you get back into the room and keep coming back here also. (((((hugs)))))
Hi Newbie and welcome to MIP. You're in the right place. I'm sorry that you have this right now. I have found the best way to help the situation is to accept help from other Alanon members to find better perspectives to make better choices. Keep coming back!
hi newbie, glad you are here. and sorry that you go through this. did you notice though, that most of our sentences in this post started with 'he'.? what would a post sound like where it all starts with 'I'? try it. recovery is about us, not them, regardless what they do

thank you all for the welcome. " hand over my mouth" I try and then it just comes out, I have to try harder and yes, I do know what to do. Grateful that I can now get help here, with my work schedule it is difficult to attend meetings. Looking forward to starting again.
I am glad you can come here to vent, this is a safe place. It is never too late to renew your al-anon program and dig back into meetings, MIP and work your steps. I am glad you are here. Sending you love and support on your journey!
