As I drove - okay call it slid - out of my icy neighborhood yesterday and onto the main thoroughfare edged on each side by huge piles of plowed dirty snow and ice, I saw a blue jay flying from tree to tree. Although the weather predictions for this week call for extreme cold and more snow, the winging blue jay reminds me that nothing can stop the spring.
When I think of alcoholism and all its bitterness, I liken it to the harshest winter I can remember. No matter how much it blows, storms and damages, nothing can stop the gift of hope or the promise of new life for those who have faith in a power greater than themselves and greater than this disease.

What a beautiful way of putting things into perspective. The spring is coming and there is nothing that will stop it. We can only pray that dream will come with our sons.
I think about all that water you have and how on this side of the country we are going into a drought. I will pray for some rain soon.
Thank you for being here with me and keeping me on my toes
(((( hugs ))))

Ohhhhhh, robins. The very first signs of spring. Thank you for yet another lovely sighting. Hope rises. If it is of any interest to anyone there is a youtube newscast on MSN or NBC about a 110 year old Holocaust survivor today. Her message is filled with hope and with wisdom. I couldn't figure out how to save the video, so I can only recommend where I found it for those interested in a message of hope from someone who survived a horror filled existence in a concentration camp.

Saw 4 (2 pair) of Eastern Bluebirds this week in my yard in PA. We have wide open fields and they just love it here! Thanks G2B for the reminder of hope for change, that is nice.

I've spotted Robins .. I love it .. it's time .. however it's weird feeling when the trees are going to burst forth .. not there yet and to think that in 2 weeks I think or there a bouts we are turning the clocks forward .. I can't wait for the sun to stay out later .. it will ROCK!
Anyways, love the spring and can't wait .. I have a feeling it will be a wet one .. sigh.
Hugs S :)

Amazing shot, isn't it? That combination blue and white effect is striking. The puffed up bird trying to keep himself warm on that snow-covered branch appears so soft to the touch in the white space on his body. I don't know if any of this was touched up at all, but I sure do love the natural elements that are interconnected and apparently not posed.
Bluebirds - they are so shy and picky about where they'll nest too! What a gift you were given, MG.
Serenity - Won't it be grand again to get outside on dry pavement without our mukluks and snowshoes?
el-cee - I'm so glad you enjoyed that post and there it is again that lovely word you use - wee. It's one of the sweetest words I know and applies so well to the description of this courageous bird.
