God Please help me to keep my mouth shut

Good Morning my family

I have been saying the serenity prayer for a hour now.  We here at work and have a co-worker that is driving us crazy.  She is good at what she does......ONLY when she does it.  Most of the time she fiddle farts around until the last few hours of the day and then she is SO SO busy she can't get anything done.  Most here can let go and consider the source but me......I'm pulling my hair out watching her because she right outside my office.  GRRRR    I'm the big mouth  lol

We have all complained to management, and she gets the scolding she needs but it only lasts about a week and she's right back to personal phone calls, playing on the computer and getting something done when she absolutely has to do it.  All of us have been been scratching our heads wondering why she's still here to be honest.

Well anyways....I needed to say something so I used you guys.

Thanks a lot  smile

Glad you brought it here Catherine.

I loved PP's suggestion and simply wanted to add that keeping the focus on myself in situations like this really, really paid off.

I had a boss just like this.  He was ready to work as we were all ready to go home. no Eveyone thought he was such a hard worker because he stayed every night until 8 or 9 PM .  Only the "Inner Group" thought that we knew that he did not start until 5PM.

When the Company downsized he was one of the first to go  I guess his actions were noticed by others.

The Serenity Prayer and Let go and Let God also helped.

I love the ladies when they get serious with a sense of humor...Mahalo Akua...Thank you God.   Cathy I hope your prayer gets answered and I have learned that mostly it does when I take care of my part...my program.  The wisdoms of the rooms we have for free when practiced keep us happy and sane no matter how many others around us are choosing to go crazy.   I read your post and remember my lessons on "Gottcha)!!  those times when I let the alcoholic/addict and other people own me with their behaviors, feelings and thoughts.  "Caught ya peeking...you stalking me"?  I often turned myself and my peace of mind and serenity over to people who were not qualified to care for it and down the drain I went.  You can rearrange the thought force "What ever others think of me...is none of my business" to something like "What ever I think of someone else and what they are about is none of my business".   It works both ways for me...Check it out with your HP for a second opinion.    ((((hugs)))) smile

All I can say is that I am just learning to keep my mouth shut and brain screwed on straight. It takes alot of practice and I am getting better. Sometimes I have to plan what I am going to say. Say what you mean but don't say it mean is something I am growing into. I practiced this yesterday with my son and spouse. It takes alot of work to be a healthy, grown up, but better late than never. Hi Cathy Fiddle farts! :) Keeping my mouth shut is so hard, at work and at home. The adult child in me just loves to tell everyone what they are doing wrong and what they can do better. When I feel the urge to open my mouth I remember to think, and try to take just three seconds before I speak. I heard somewhere in my readings or in a meeting that 3 seconds is the time HP needs to do his work, if we let him. Hang in there!

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the input. I just love it here. We had a meeting this afternoon with a company that will be helping us upgrade and change some of the ways we do business and save money. After the presentation was over they asked if anyone had any questions on what project to take on first. Well I spoke up. I told them our first project should be is to get inventory on tract and use the system for what it was designed for. LIKE lets use MRP...Hello! Everyone agreed so we are to put a team together so we can get info and ideas from others other than management. The new girl that we hired for MRP was chosen to lead up the team. I thought I would be disappointed because I have been the main leader when projects were done in inventory, purchasing and production but I wasn't. I was happy!! I will be a overseer because I have the most experience on how the system works and what departments it will effect if any changes are made. I'm also old school so I guess its that time to start stepping down. Need those young guns that have the big ideas and have the time and energy to put the hard work in. Me.....I'm on my way out lol.

I'm grateful to still have employment. I am the Buyer ( that will greatly be reduced because of automation ) but I also take care of all the PC's, main frame and the network and that's a good thing. Nice having a backup job. I'm also taking on some of AP and AR so I will pick up things to do.

Grateful, grateful, grateful....Happy, Happy, Happy!!

((( hugs )))

I am trying my best at work and at home to keep my big trap shut too, no easy feat! I've been bossy my whole life, a real know it all, fixer of the worlds problems, I see this now- and I even annoy myself. I have to stop myself at work, put my finger over my big ole' pie hole and think...hmmm is anything that comes out of me at this moment going to change anything? Probably not... At home I have nearly perfected the, say something bossy and then "take it back" method. If something slips out of my mouth, I will say a little later, "I was thinking about what I said before about ____, and on second thought..." I am finding it is OK if I change my mind, I can be wrong, I can slip, and it's OKAY!

Good for you Cathy that you have many valuable skills, I am also grateful everyday I have work and plenty of it.

LOL.....Hey Cath, I got to agree unless she is messing up your job, I would just let her hang herself which she will in good time......not much u can do on job related stuff, but detach...keep yourself professional and do YOUR job, and let them make their own karma

I had to laugh at what Paula says here, LOL....but yea, I hear ya, I don't like lazy assed people either, but not much can be done, just don't help her is what I woudl do  HUGS

Hi Cathy,

The lovely 17th Century Nun's prayer that I carry around in my purse has a first line that says.
'Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking that I must say something on every subject and on every occasion'
'Fiddlefarts' works really well and much faster though!
