A very well written post about Philip Seymour Hoffman and addiction. http://www.onecraftymother.com/2014/02/philip-seymour-hoffman-how-could-he.html?m=1
Having lost my son to this dreadful disease, I find reading about Philipp Hoffman Seymour's relapse and death very painful . Like this man ,my son was sober for many years, picked up that first drink and was dead within a few years.
A great reason for the Family to search out alanon meetings and seek recovery for themselves. A painful reminder.
Dear Hotrod
I'm sorry if sharing this here caused you pain. You have been so kind and compassionate to me and everyone on this board. I pray that the rest of the world can learn from this tragedy, that addiction is not a shameful moral deficiency, but an illness. With love, Paris.
Your posting this to the Board did not cause me additonal pain. It is a great reminder to us all of the power of this disease and why we need to keep coming back. . My son, like this person found sobriety in his early 20s and thought, incorretly that by the time he was 36, he was all grown up and could certainly drink like a "Man". He forgot he had a cunning, dreadful disease that wanted him dead. We all need reminders.
