Thank you OG each and every thought touched my spirit and caused me to reflect. I  certainly see Al-Anon principles and philosophy in the last thought. Life certainly did not get easier but I did get stronger and wiser. 

Thanks to Al-Anon I can now face life with constructive tools that enables me to live each day to the fullest with courage serenity and wisdom. I do know that with  will enrich my journey.

I had several reactions to this today. I saw the title and my first thought was, "thank God." Like Hotrod I understand today that life will never get easier but all my life has made me stronger and wiser. Today I'm not so sure " I can now face life with constructive tools that enables me to live each day to the fullest with courage serenity and wisdom." My courage and serenity are sorely missing these days but I suspect they're hiding in a cave somewhere with my hope. Life is very hard right now. I don't know what's wrong with me but I am having horrible nightmares about my son's and my death, extremely distressing. My hope left me sometime in the night in the last week and right now I'm just surviving, not living. I hate to be so morose and discouraging but I don't have anything or anyone in my world to give my life purpose and meaning so everyday is a struggle to keep trying, to keep showing up and suiting up.

I strive every day to keep working on me, to just put one foot in front of the other. When I walk in this valley of shadows, all I can do is attempt to trust that my HP is with me and "this too shall pass." I know I am feeling very sorry for myself for all my sorrows and challenges. My tools tell me "this too shall pass," but its looking more and more that my troubles will only pass when I do. My courage is MIA. But I'm hoping my wisdom will help me find it again.
