((((MG)))))) well you sound like a SERIOUS program worker bee.....I love the way you say  "bare with me as I learn the ropes and please correct me if I do wrong"......the program works only if total honest...openess...willingness...and add to that humility is in place....looks to me like you are gonna thrive like a weed on steroids in this program.....I love it when folks , even tho it seems scary, are willing to dive in and take care of themselves and find a better life.......

alanon is our "save ourselves" program...its about us...for us....to help us....the one(s)  who qualified us to be here , if we work our program, are on their own....to either get into recovery or not...it is no longer our worry b/c we  didn't cause them to do what they are doing....we cannot control them....nor will we ever cure them,  but we CAN help ourselves....

welcome to the community....lots of wisdom here......I urge you to find an alanon meet near you, fac2fac and if that is not possible, we have great on line meets here.....get all the books /workbooks on the 12 steps that you can carry, ...get literature....find a sponsor as soon as you can feel safe and connect w/someone and , I know, it seems overwhelming, but it is not...one thing at a time and meets you already started, so lets get the books and workbooks........i got Beattie's   12 steps for codependents and  codependent no more and it launched me into really recovering....also  courage to change...one day at a time....and oh there are a bunch of alanon books to tear into.......

again...a warm welcome and glad you showed up and are ready to get to work on the most important thing in your life......YOU!!!!

Welcome! Glad you're here. My 38 year old son relapsed several years ago and has not returned to AA or NA. Doesn't see that he needs it. I saw I sure needed Al-Anon. Welcome to the family.

Welcome mugirl. You share already demonstrates your willingness to learn and grow. Your honesty and openness tells me you will thrive in Alanon. I, too, urge you to find f2f meetings and sponsor when you can. Conference approved literature (CAL) for all us who don't understand digispeak, are our meeting at home and of course you've already discovered our online chat meetings. I feel like a muggle there sometimes because I struggle with confusion these days when things don't go the way I've learned them, but stick with us here and you will find the love, fellowship and hope this wonderful program has to offer. I may be an "old-timer" insofar as years I've been trying to work this program but I have seen great progress in myself since I have become active in Alanon online. I look forward to seeing you in meetings and on the boards.
