Heading away tomorrow morning for 4 days with family. Daughter's birthday on Saturday and we will celebrate it far away with my parents, aunt and cousins at my parent's beach-house. Daughter wants a Doctor Who cake so somehow on Saturday we will all pitch in and make an edible tardis.
I will not get sucked in to a fight with ABF before I go and feel miserable the whole time. I will not check my phone while I am away or call home. I will go, and enjoy myself, and the people that love me, and have a wonderful time.
Great decision and plan. Please remember to take your program tools with you. Keep the slogans close : Keep the focus on yourself, Keep your mind where your feet are,and Recite the serenity prayer if you become too confused, angry or concerned. Most of all Enjoy yourself, your family and your daughter 's Birthday!!!
sure sure, have fun, happy birthday to the daughter and all that but an important questions must be asked! Which Dr. is her favorite? Ah the doctor changes but the tardis remains the same.
Have fun and remember - you don't have to answer your phone just because it rings! Boy did mr ex complain when I refused to give him my new cell number so he couldn't ruin my day.

I haven't watch enough episodes yet to determine where Smith lies in my Dr esteem - I started with Ecchelston, so when Tennant came I resisted him because I really liked the first, and didn't know he was going. When Tennant left I knew he was leaving so it was easier to transition to Smith. My grdaughter LOVES Tennant and Dr. Who - went to a Who convention, calls herself a Whovian (which makes me think of who's down in whoville...) and they bought an old bed they turned into the tardis!

I started when i was a kid in the 80's, so Tom Baker will always be the doctor to me. But now daughter wants to go right back to the early black and whites, so we will be watching them together until we are old and grey lol.
She also wants to put an old cupboard in front of her door, cut out the back and paint it like the tardis lol, will be a great project one rainy weekend

Yes I was glad to see your plan. Enjoy the beach, too.
Today as often happens reading you sends me to the dictionary to find an Australian term Today it was a Dr Who thing (edible tardis). Your daughter will love that. Take a picture.
Have a wonderful time Melly - I think that making (and hopefully eating) an edible Tardis is likely to be a major life enhancing experience
Can't wait to see the picture!
Thank-you beautiful people! It's a wonderful feeling to know that you all wish me a nice time away. My daughter too...she has had a big disappointment these summer holidays; she was meant to go overseas just her and her dad to visit his parents, a special daddy/daughter trip and in the end somehow he ended up making the trip with his wife and other kids and not my girl...they made some weird excuses (told her I didn't want her to go which was absolutely false but she knew that without me needing to tell her) so it's a big deal to me for her to be around fun family and good vibes for her birthday.
(She said bitterly to me the other day- "I bet for my birthday they give me souveniers from their New Zealand holiday and a big framed picture of them all having a good time without me"....the sad part of that is that she's probably right they are that insensitive and I bet that's exactly what they will give her for her birthday)
I'm sleepless tonight- I always am the night before I have to go away from home. But in a good way; I'm packed and organised and ready to run out the door in the morning Somehow I have to get on and off a ferry with a suitcase, a dog, 2 bicycles and our hand-luggage, so if you wish me anything, wish me dexterity...lol!
I'll post some pics....there are a lot of kangaroos where we are going and also a GIGANTIC wombat that passes through my parents property every night (and makes terrifying noises). Jill, I'm sure you won't need the dictionary for kangaroos and wombats
I love the place we are going to...it's very remote and "country" but right on the beach...the best kind of Australia in my opinion.
Fingers crossed that I can make a happy trip for my girl because she's a little bitter and grumpy at the moment. That's her right, she is entitled to feel her feelings and I love that I have learnt not to take it personally or make it about me!!!
You deserve a break and I know you will enjoy it! I am so happy to see your growth and how far you have come in a short time. Keep up the good work. Sending you love and support on your journey!
