LOL, Don't get me started on my beliefs about we should go back to prohibition. Now pot is legal in Colorado and my Mother is delighted that it will open new doors for pit smokers everywhere, ha. I am glad the government here can admit such things, it says a lot about our culture. Al-anon and A.A. meetings are available all over the world, because I guess everyone else already knew, I am glad they are catching up!.

When the government controlled media wont even admit that Fukushima Nuclear plant is leaking 300 tons of radiation into the ocean every day, reported alcoholism becomes the diversion news of the day. We must pray for this planet and the survival of mankind, sorry for my soapbox.
Hugs to you all

One of the things I've noticed about the folks on our forum is how - little by little - we become gentler, kinder, wiser and more responsive to ourselves and each other as lovingly as human beings can be. It is my hope that the changes we make in our own thinking, attitudes and behaviors will help to bring fresh air and fresh creative ideas into our personal lives and into the lives of our neighbors. I have been listened to and I have listened with a focus on solutions with the members of MIP. I keep coming back here because I experienced and still experience the healing of being heard and watching others being heard, understood and in time - truly cared about by this family. Maybe, in our little way, we are helping to pump fresh air and fresh creativity and genuine respect for the well-being of others into our lives and into our environment? I don't know if what I hope is true or will ever be true, but I have experienced enough of this forum to know that miracles still do happen and people can and do change their minds, their hearts and their behaviors in ways that are life-giving rather than life-destroying.
I didn't listen to who they would cite as the source of the information as most often it is the CDC (Center for Disease Control) who puts out that word...maybe some other source...I've been tied into many of them at one point in time and the proliferation of alcohol problems was my college paper before I graduated on the subject. I also have a legislative proposal in the legislature AGAIN without a politician willing to actually do something with it. It isn't prohibition in the historical sense ...actually is is "Anti-Enabling" legislation and then while it has receive much patronization from local reps up to the governors office it still languishes ...black print on white paper without other than false promises.
Just read a comic strip "Shoe" with one character telling the other that the local politician has found a social platform to further his image...its called "Two Face Book"....laughing hard at that piece of reality. Gonna try it again with in the week at the legislative session starts anew on the 17th. Maybe I'll ask if they will here me out in a legislative sesson.
When nothing changes....nothing changes hmmmmm (((((hugs)))))

LOL...I hear ya breaking, but the sad thing about prohibition was it made guys, like Luciano and Capone very very rich and then you had the violent turf wars over whose territory was whose, and the bathtub gin that blinded people, so prohibition really was a gov't failure b/c it #1 didn't work and #2 made the mafia very rich and powerful...Ole Joe Kennedy got rich bootlegging booze from Canada.....if people want to drink, they will drink...if they want to drug, they will drug....what really is ghastly is to see the drug pushers at the middle schools peddling their death to innocent children.....I have no mercy on any p.o.s. who does that...Even the mob hates that b/c it keeps the gov't heat on them....with Ricoh in affect, organized crime is having it tougher....i dunno what the answer is...this problem is as old as time...the old opium dens and the home made hooch made in back yard stills....I remember when I was in OK in the 60's, OK was a dry state but that did not stop the drinkers....gradually the state of OK went "wet" because the state coudl then charge the taxes on sales of alcoholic beverages......soo sad...we need to get to the root...WHY so much substance abuse??? why so much despair of late??? economy and no jobs isn't helping...middle class collapsing adds to it...crime on the increase b/c people can't find work....this country is in trouble for sure....
OK, jumping off MY soap box....
