Hey G

If i understand you correctly, at the bottom of your post you see the attach files thingy??? you hit that and then I would put to desktop what i want to share so its easy to find, then select the pic and it kinda walks ya trhough it......now to pm someone a pic....not sure how to do that...dunno if we even can, but we can do pics on the posts as we see every now adn again........

I can't find anything either. PM I guess doesn't allow you insert a picture. I will keep looking

Thanks for checking. My daughter and I were both trying to figure out how to send a photo via PM and just couldn't figure it out. I'm glad I'm not alone in this. It took me almost a year to figure out how to upload an avatar.

LOL...re: the avatar..........i just checked the pm thingy here and you CAN insert a url , but not a pic that i can see.....U R talking about this PM system right?? or is it another software you are referring to...I assumed it was this MIP site....you see the sorta green thing to the left of youtube above this post???? that is what I thought may help you, but it looks to be just inserting URLs and not pics......if i find anything will let ya know pronto -:)

Yes, I'm talking about our pm system. What, oh what, is a URL? If you can figure it out, I will be forever in your debt. I'd love to send some photos with my new camera - another thing I'm trying to learn how to use with my computer.

OK...challenge a techie and I gotta "bite" let me play with it and figure out....a URL is a link...an address....what ya want is the dang picture...to select and let it upload....let me figure out this thingy.....since you and i pm , I will try to send you a pic...then let ya know how i did it...if ya dont' see any pm from me that means it was a "no go" ok????

Although not the most ideal solution, you can make the picture your Avatar for just the time it takes to copy and paste it into the body of the private message email that you want to send someone here. You could then remove it as your Avatar and replace it with the Avatar you really want. It does work. I tried it. Maybe someone else will come with great knowledge to bestow on us all. Now I'm curious too! LOL TT

I was hoping there'd be a way to send photos through pm to various folks rather than switching in and out of the board to e-mail and back again. Thanks, everybody. I've learned so much even if it isn't how to attach a photo to a PM.

(((B))) It's so good to laugh! Thank you for the simple solution. I'm willing to surrender to the reality we can't send photos via PM's. I don't have to like it. I'm just going to have to accept it. Thanks to Rose who worked so hard at trying to find a solution and to the rest of the feedback, too. I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one who can't copy and paste to a PM. Cheers, all!

I was able to get the the picture into the PM by dragging it off my desktop but it was to large to send. I don't have any software to reduce the picture but I will get it....

I tried the drag and drop thingy and it goes "somewhere" but not to the message...at least that is what I saw......

You can upload photos to a site like photobucket or similar. Then when you click on them, they will display a URL which can be attatched here into pms and the like. I don't know of any other way to do it but that works, the same as attaching pictures into posts!

Thanks, Melly. As you know, I am working on this one day at a time. I plan on figuring out the entire process in an Easy Does It Fashion. Boy, my mind can go haywire with this kind of stuff. Its like every nerve ending is screaming "What???!!!" "What????" as they try to make new grooves and inroads and patterns in an old brain. Thanks for posting this, too. Before long, many of us may be sending photos via PM like pros. (Aside: Once I learn how to work with Photobucket, then I have to learn how to send photos that don't cut off heads, make eyes look like they're LED lights, and take in more that carpet and walls than creatures.)

G2B--so where do I get on the waiting list for image sharing tutoring? Or at the very least, a crash course in any operating system after XP? I own nothing that requires me to touch the screen of anything except this "free" laptop I got (no I am not going to complain about my unmet expectations, unless...). It has a touch pad mouse and I had it for 2 months before I discovered that the touch pad made things bigger or smaller and scrolled up and down at light speed. He didn't have the time to delete all of his protected files from the hard drive so he locked me out of administrator privileges for apps and other essential programs I DONT NEED so I'll never be able to fix the slow speed. Sorry to be uncharitable about charity. Sometimes I can be a bad, bad girl, Ollie.

Anyway, keep me updated on my very dated tech.

Well I'll be snockered...I just did an attachment and IT WORKED! This is what I did. Instead of doing a quick post, I went to the top of the page where you can also post replies. A full word document screen opens and after the text box there is an "Attach File(s)" button. I clicked on it ad it opened all my files so I could choose any doc or pickture to attaché....It did it. Knock me over with an angel's wing.

Of course, its not a PM so I'm going to check that and get baack to you...from black sheep.

Yup its the same for PM. This is what you do... Instead of posting to the whiteboard, you hit the button under the sendee's bio called "Send Message." It opens the same word doc with attachment button. Let me know if you have other problems. Sometimes shortcuts ain't.

Hi, CWYA: Nice Photo. I'm trying what you found worked for you. Please let me know if you can open the photo I sent you and what you see? Thank you, sister. Oops. This isn't the PM page. On PM, I can only find paste text and paste from word (clipboard and T; clipboard and W). There doesn't seem to be an attach files there unless I'm missing it?

Yes I was able to view your lovely butterfly bird feeder. When you click on someone's name to use PM, a window opens that has a column on the left for the whiteboard. At the top though where it lists your info like name, years in, location etc, at the very bottom of the info box is a highlighted line that says, "Send message." Click on that and the same word doc text box should open. Let me know if you can see it.

When I do it I don't get the attachment icon like in board posting messages.

It isn't there, Cathy. There really isn't a way to do it through PM without a connection to another website as Melly suggested. I'm still trying to figure out how to do that with Melly when I hear from her again. She might be willing to help us all learn how to do that. Too bad we can't do it as simply at the PM board as we can the message board. CWYA helped me learn how to attach from the message board. I didn't know how to do that either!

I know about Photobucket or Instagram but didn't like using it......just something about letting some website have my photos... I know it's OK but
