Our online Al-Anon group holds scheduled meetings every day of the week.
9am Monday - Friday
10am Saturday & Sunday
9pm Monday - Saturday
7pm Sunday.
We have three chairperson slots open at this time. We would like to get these filled by currently active Al-Anon members with a minimum of 6 months experience in face to face meetings.
Getting setup to chair a meeting with just a few clicks of your mouse to run the meeting readings, and monitor the room properly is relatively easy. It does require basic knowledge of how to download and install the mIRC program to run the meeting with, as well as setup the scripts that send the reading text into the room as the meeting begins and as it ends. All of this is explained in step by step detail on this site, as well as the OP/Chairperson Responsibility Guidelines sheet.
Right now our open chairperson slots are Monday at 9am eastern time, Saturday and Sunday at 10am eastern time.
If you'd be interested in finding out more about these open service work positions, please send an email to alanon@12stepforums.net, introduce yourself with a brief description of your length of time in Al-Anon and the frequency of which you attend f2f meetings in your local community. Please state how you would grade your internet and computer skill level, so if you need some help getting setup and established as a chairperson we can make ourselves available to you to help you through that process. Also, state which of the open slots you'd like to be considered for filling. To see first hand how our meetings are run, please attend one of our scheduled meetings, so you can familiarize yourself with our meeting format. MESSAGE BOARD MONITORS
This service position requires that you are able to come to the message board for a few minutes, once or twice a day, to greet and welcome newcomers who are posting for the first time (replying to their post), read the majority of the post so they can be monitored for staying Al-Anon focused, and all spam, rude or obnoxious material can be removed from the board by you, and that any profanity in a post is very limited. You will have the ability to edit the post of others, so if you feel the profanity level is unacceptable, you have the ability to edit it out, and replace it with the word, "(omitted)". so as the post stays on the board without the foul words attached to it. You will also have the ability to ban someone from the board, after having attempted to resolve a problem related to their post, should their conduct be repetitious and disruptive to the purpose of the board, its users, or creates an environment of division opposed to unity among our members.
At this time we have 2 slots available for Message Board Monitors. No set hours are involved, you can do this at your own leisure. We would really like to have monitors who are active themselves on the board and responsive to the post of others. If you'd be interested in providing your service work for this position, please email alanon@12stepforums.net and state your interest in the "board monitor position", then briefly describe your Al-Anon history, the length of time you have been a active Al-Anon member in your local community and the frequency in which you go to f2f meetings.

The chat meet times don't suit because of time zone stuff...
...I may apply to help out on the board early in the New Year. I am an active Alanon member here in Cromwell and am a Group Rep.
We have issues at the moment and have called a conscience meeting coming up in January. I want to cover this issue first, at home, before committing to anything else.
