Just knowing tomorrow is a holiday and knowing I have no control of my son is just depressing to not know what he would be like tomorrow. It's unhealthy for us to be around each other and I feel sad for him. But I can't do nothing and I know that. He has made poor choices and I can't imagine what he will do to numb his feelings tomorrow is just depressing!! I just need to be strong have faith and hope and pray !!!
Gaby, do you have meetings to go to? Have you met someone to be your sponsor. This is so important. I too have a son who is addicted. Take care of yourself, unfortunately people take holidays too serious, it's just another day to be thankful. Iam thinking of you....in support og

Have a great day for you! Seems a selfish thought but its all you can do. These holiday days are hard for us and for our alcoholics, but we can do little for them - they can get help if they want it but we can only look after ourselves and hand them to our HP.
Happy Thanksgiving, Gaby. If I make a gratitude list and look for all the things about me that I like and list those, too, it helps. Talking with my sponsor and fellowship members I trust helps, too. If I focus on my day and what is in it and the many blessings that are mine to include shelter, clothing, food, eyes, hands, feet, legs, people present to love and love me, I get happier. These things work for me. Maybe some will work for you?
The holidays are not good when a addiction is present. My son called, he is in the hospital alone. There is nothing I can do. I'm sick about it but I have to except what it is.
Please lets try and take care of us because it's really the only thing we can do right now.
It's heartbreaking I know but this too shall pass.
