Looking for alateen

Hello today is ok , I have taken a break from my Alaon books and find that I can't stay focus on my self . I don't focus on the A anymore that became old hat. My focus is now on my children and there behavior . I find myself wanting to change them but not fix them. I need to know about alateen . I looked on the board and I did not see where they have a meetings for them. I have books for them and then I have my own book is it ok to teach them what I have learned already from Alaon or is alateen have a different way of teaching? My children are excited about learning how to mind there own business . It's not so much for the alcoholic father but for there own self help to under stand that they to will have to walk a clear road and find there HP when the time is right. Our house has way to many busy body's and and the fights on who is right and who is wrong and no one wins . I believe they fit the program where they have picked up bad traits from the alcoholic threw the years and recovery . So any help will be nice . Thank you

I don't know much about alateen but I do know that you are so wise to look into this program for your kiddos...your new name fits (((wisdom))).

I know in my state you have to call the local information service and they will put you in touch with the local alateen sponsor. Other states I have noticed have the meetings on their alanon website. Check the web first and go from there. This board has an alateen area but they have to apply to get on to it. This is all done to protect our fragile young ones from predators.

Rosemary...great support!! If there are no Alateen meetings in your area you might want to take them to your Al-Anon group if they are able to follow the meeting protocol and to sit and listen. Hopefully you all will not cross distract each other from hearing the messages at the table. One of my sponsees use to do that with his daughter and son who were very young back then and it worked out...they are much more balanced today from being allowed in the rooms. Alateen is a part of the Al-Anon Family Groups and the language is very much the same although the understanding comes from other directions. The kids recovery faster than the adults because of the less time they have in the disease. In support. ((((hugs)))) smile

You may want to try calling your local info number for Al-Anon , they will know if there is a Alateen meeting in your area. Often they are at the same time and place as an Al-Anon meeting . Also as already mentioned in a post here there is a site for Alateen meetings on line . Louise
