Today was the first truly warm, summery evening of the year. My daughter's friend comes here on Wednesday afternoons whilst her mum is at work and usually I have dinner waiting for all of us when she comes to collect her child. But tonight she called on her way here- would I like to grab some takeaway and eat on the beach tonight? Yes, I liked to. I liked to very much
So, this is what passes for a bath most nights for us in summer-time
It has been a long, cold miserable winter in so many ways for me, and the summers have gone by in a haze of feeling miserable that the A wouldn't enjoy the beach with me and bitterness over being a "single mum" amongst all of the happy couples canoodling on the sand. Or the fear and embarrasment of being on the beach when he is drunk and either shouting weird things at other beach-goers, trying to start spitty nonsensical conversations with horrified strangers or, even worse, swimming out way too far in the surf and having seizures in the water (that is simply terrifying). So I'm going to enjoy this summer NO MATTER WHAT and turn all of that stuff over.

Beautiful view of this part of your life. I can certainly say I wouldn't want to leave it either. I am also happy to see that you are determined to enjoy your summer no matter what while you let HP take care of BF and the future. I also wanted to say that I laughed at your description of previous summers with ABF. I know it isn't and wasn't funny, but your description of it all was. It put me right on the beach as an observer.
We bought a heap of cherry-tomato seedlings on the weekend, from her school fair, David. Might even build some kind of little green-house next weekend; there's nothing better than home-grown tomatoes
wow. absolutely stunning picture with the water and rocks and humans in the water. I am envious. I totally understand why you would not want to move away.
