A god Thing

Something funny happen yesterday and wanted to share it.  I decided to join the recovering abf for a walk around a lake in the drizzling rain.  He asked if we could bring our program books and read them afterwards in the car.  He said he just wasn't in a good place. He bagged eight books and brought them along.

It was a nice walk. We saw and heard some birds and got some exercise. When we got back to the car, we stayed in the parking lot awhile and the rain kept coming down. He got the books out and split them between us. We had AA, Alanon and non conference approved books. We took turns reading them aloud. I let him have the ones he really likes to read since he'd said he wasn't having a good day.  It was a nice experience to sit quietly in the car with the rain coming down sharing daily readings.

Then the funny thing happened. I looked out the windshield as he was reading and saw a little car parked in the corner of the lot. It's license said Hly God. When he finished reading I pointed it out to him. We smiled. We continued reading. Shortly after a woman came from the lake wearing a windbreaker and floppy canvas hat and got into the god mobile and drove off.  Tonight we went for a walk again but this time just around the neighborhood.  Neither of us had very much to say.  Then I said to bf, "That was pretty funny what happened last night with the license plate, don't you think?" "Yeah," he said.  I asked bf... "Did you ever think god would look like that?"  He said, "Never!"  "Me either," I said.  Then bf says, "I thought god was a short old man who smoked cigars!" :p

Thanks for letting me share with you.    TT

LOL and how beautiful a share about sharing recovery.  I know that God works in mysterious and often times"different" (than how I think God should) ways so I have no complaints only appreciations.  God gets to look like God wants to, when God wants to, where God wants to and still get our attention letting us know that simply "God is".   I love this share.   ((((hugs)))) smile

I love this share more than you know! Here in Wisconsin we had quite a downpour on Saturday and it was fun just to play in it with my kids. I always think of some old guy like George Burns playing the role of God, but in truth I see HP everywhere and in all things. Sending you love and support on your journey!

I have come to love and appreciate God's sense of humor....funny how we want to give God human male qualities.  Thanks for sharing your experience.  (((Hugs)))

Although it has been my experience that I can't escape the Presence of God, I can sure miss it when I think I know all there is to know about it. Loved your share, TT. It helped me remember to keep my mind open to that inescapable Presence and the various forms it takes on in this life.
