Regarding violence: Sept. 29th's Courage to Change

I thought it important to bring this day's reading up because more often than not, there are members who are under the circumstances of being faced with physical violence.

Today's reading is very poignant and I realize for me it must be taken to heart should I find myself under similar circumstances ever:

The reading emphasizes that we have a personal responsibility to take care of ourselves. If we're in a situation of physical violence, it is important that we admit it and take steps to protect ourselves, even if temporarily. It goes on to say that no one has the right to physically abuse anyone under any circumstances.

The reminder says this all perfectly: "I don't have the power to change another person. If I am dealing with violence, I must be the one who changes. I'll start with being honest about what's going on."

Thank you. That reading used to upset me because I felt I had, as it said, a "right to human dignity" around things where people had harmed me when it WASN'T physical.

I have since learned that unless someone is hitting me, if I do my own work, grow, carry the message in recovery and be my True Self, no one can harm my character.

God bless

and drinking drugging does not "make" an abuser.....a beater is a beater....a cheater is a cheater......the substance only lessens the inhibitions or fear of it so its easier for them to do what they already have in them

violence is the deal breaker........it CAN and usually happens again.....its just a matter of time.....it is "hard wired" in them in their personality,  IMHO......get away and stay away......PERMANENTLY.......I don't care if a violent A or NA is in recovery for TEN years,  they can slip that one time and kill you....I have seen "close calls" in my life.....

I never support staying w/ violence or the storm clouds of it coming......I am GONE and GONE FOR GOOD...........I am beginning to love me.........it shows in how I treat me and WHO I let in my life............JUST saying

Also if i see temper where people break things or worse...harm a pet.......BIG RED FLAG.......in TX we can call the cops and have them locked up if we see them harm a pet....that is now a crime in TX....and trust me........a child, a pet or elderly or disabled person,  if I see anyone menace these helpless lives, I am on the phone calling the cops..........and they better NEVER come near me.....

violence of any kind is a HUGE sign to RUN.....and STAY away
