Hurting people hurt people (Not a new revelation)

This is why I love my MIP family! You all so gently reminded me that hurting people hurt people and since a few of my new found friends are not in a recovery program I am noticing that they could probably use one. I know I have no control over them and maybe need to lower my expectations and just study with these girls. Thanks so much for the support and giving me a healthy place to come to work it out in my head so I could get back to work. Sending you all love and support!

One of the gifts I received through al anon, was learning to be with diverse people in diverse situations and learning when either was harmful to my well being.  I think enlarging my abilities to be in compassion and a hard ass at the same time is another aspect of recovery...you are a light house to your friends, I am sure!

Hugs to you Breakingfree!!

Isn't it amazing that when we come into Alanon we are able to see how many people in our lives would benefit from their own program?? Obviously, meddling with other people's process is not part of the program, but I've def gotten the gifts to see my part in so many things. Like your situation - I've had to cut and tailor my expectations with a number of different people, as they were giving me resentments. Life feels lighter this way and we are able to keep the focus on ourselves.

So glad to see your post :)

You are so beautiful both inside and out.  What's inspiring is watching how quickly you grasp the reality once you've heard it.  You'll be just fine my friend.  Keep being you and know that at the end of the lunch line the only person you have to pay the bill on is what is on your lunch tray.
