I wanted to share this little amusing story. Since the A passed lots of memories are surfacing, sad ones, funny ones.
Today I was sharing and made a comment how A's can be clever and wanted to share a laugh, some may think its funny, some may not, but I find that being with the alcoholic all those years, I could have been angry 90% of the time, but that would have caused wrinkles and a constant constipated look.
Anyway, we had bought tickets for the Hollywood Bowl, its a beautiful place and it has wonderful concerts. We lived 5 miles north of Hollywood. We were going to see Pavorotti and it was his last tour. So its traditional to pack a picnic basket for the evening and you can drink and snack all nite. So , I packed the basket with goodies and two tiny bottles of chardonay for me and two small bottles of non alcoholic wine for the A. So , comes the evening, its quite a hike up to the bowl, you finally find your seat and the anticipation of seeing Pavorotti and opening your bottles of spirits, I had saved some little bottles up in the cabinet for such occasions.
Well, I had grapes, cheese, crackers, sliced salami and we were having a great time so far, finally I pulled the bottles out, gave the non alcoholic bottle to my a husband, grabbed my Chardonay, put it too my lips (you guessed it) WATER, the bottle was filled with water , with a little taste of the wine. I spit it out because I was laughing so hard. If you could have seen the expression on the my x husbands face, he probably didnt know what I would do. and he knew the wine was in there. or the lack of it. It wasnt a gotcha look, it was one of surprise as he didnt know what my reaction would be. I laugh everytime I think about it. I laugh today. Which I needed.
Thanks for letting me share
Hugs, Bettina

You can get any attitude you want and you chose humor. Funny I laugh at it also. My alcoholic/addict and I use to do the clubs and bars also and often she would get up to go freshen up taking one of those little perfume bottles from her bag. Later on I would find out what really was in those little perfume "recycled" bottles. Cunning, Powerful and Baffling. Mahalo Bettina. ((((hugs))))
Good story, there are so many like this in all our lives, I admire your ability to laugh, I think its so important for our recovery to see the lighter side. Thanks for sharing.x
Good story, Bettina. Good that it helped you smile. You "had me" at your first paragraph. Grin. Keep your stories coming, please. I'd love to hear more.
